The friendly face of flight simming
Some up to date pics of my simulator setup for FSX. Rig is a i7 950 1st Gen overclocked to 3.854 Ghz with closed loop cooling and a pair of Non Slied GTX 570's for Multi Monitor support. I picked up the sealed X58 Classified 3 board as a backup if needed some day. I have no need to upgrade the X58 chipset due to the fact that this machine does everything I could ask for with regards to FSX. The classified board was a $370 dollar board at one time but got it from EVGA as a close out for $139! I could not pass that up.

To bad I can't chill some brews in this thing! I wish I could justify putting in the x58 classified 3 board but Microsoft would not let me do it without a complete reinstall of Win 7 64. The new board has some awesome features like dual x16 pcie slots where the current X58 sli le board has me running one of those 570's at x8 but from the articles I have seen, this really seems to make only a small difference. The current mobo has taken a lickin and keeps on ticking so why screw up a perfect Timex at this point. The new board does have sata 6GB and USB 3 but since they only used one pcie lane to feed the old marvel controller, it ends up being no where near true sata 6gb. It really does not matter though since my Baracuda drives can not max out sata 3gb anyway. Same thing on usb 3. If evga had went back in and used the later Marvel controller, it would have been worth the effort to install a new ssd drive but as it sets now, it is a handy capped board and I only bought it as a to good of a deal for a backup X58 board. The LE board now in it did turn out to be a very popular lower cost overclocker in it's own right so just can not justify changing out boards at this point. A new I7 950 or a used one still cost a fortune at the moment so the new classified board will likely remain sealed as it was received from EVGA on the close out deal.

Personally, I feel that you should upgrade that obsolete beast... and send me your old parts! LOL
I still drool when I see pictures of that old "refrigerator" that you call a computer.
See ya Bro, Milt
